American BMX riders Jill Kintner and Kyle Bennett have earned two coveted tickets to Beijing.The women’s squad was not as lucky. The U.S. finished a close fifth in the final nation’s rankings, with only the top-four countries earning the maximum two women’s spots. Both Kintner and compatriot Ariel Martin missed large blocs of competition from 2006-2008. Martin, America’s other heavy hitter, suffered an injury at the Christmas Classic race in 2006 and did not return from competition until July of 2007. Kintner, a four-time world champion in the sport of Four-cross mountain biking, did not transition to full-time BMX racing until mid 2007.
