Cycling Team competes for second “Triple Crown”

mountainchamp.jpgAppalachian State University’s cycling team has begun its quest for capturing a second straight Atlantic Coast Cycling Conference’s Division II “Triple Crown” after winning the conference Mountain Bike Championship. The “Triple Crown” consists of three different racing seasons: mountain, cyclocross and road racing.

Cape to Cape challenge

The challenge, which will run from October 22 to 25, has attracted some of the world’s leading mountain bike riders, including Australia’s most highly-regarded female competitor Niki Gudex, who is ranked one and two in the national cross-country and downhill disciplines.

Skateboarding Scholarships

Recently, I heard about a five thousand dollar skateboarding scholarship. I’ve been skateboarding since last summer, and a couple of friends and I even started a weekly skateboarding newsletter. Let’s face it, there aren’t too many girls who skate. So as a young female skater, I thought I had a good chance of getting that scholarship. I met every requirement on the list, except for the last one: “applicant MUST be a U.S. citizen”. It didn’t seem fair

BMX World Cup

Also on Saturday, after qualifying second, Martin finished second in the women’s race as the only American woman in contention in Frejus. The women’s event was won by Laetitia le Corguielle of France, while her countryman Amelie Despeaux (FRA) took third.

USA RIDERS WIN TOP WAKEBOARD WORLD CUP TITLES AT SINGAPORE’S MARINA BAY FLOATING PLATFORM
