Slow start costs Curtis

Kacey Curtis of Spotsylvania now has a good idea how the owners and supporters of racehorse Big Brown felt after his disappointing finish at Belmont. The 13-year-old Thornburg Middle School student was riding high following six consecutive firsts in motos in the Area and Regional qualifying competition, but settled for the second-place trophy at the AMA Amateur National Championships held last week.

Clean sweep for Yamaha Girls

candb320.jpgBrook Thiemann and Courtney Knight of the Queensland Yamaha Girls team annihilated the competition under lights at Reedy Creek on Saturday night at the 2008 Go Girls Gathering with both girls putting their YZ250F’s on the top step of the podium in their respective classes.

Local Motocross racer wins X Games gold

q-05tgeigersc-5776_t220.JPGThere’s a new gold medal in town, and it belongs to Tarah Gieger. The 22-year-old Vero Beach native was part of an elite group of 10 professional women Motocross riders who were invited to compete during the inaugural Women’s Moto X racing contest Saturday in Los Angeles.

Pirelli Tire Secures Silver Medal at First-Ever Women’s Moto-X

Three of the top six spots at the inaugural X-Games 14 Women’s Moto-X championship were secured by Pirelli Tire racers, including Sherri Cruse (2nd place), Jessica Patterson (4th place) and Mariana Balbi (6th place).
