Skateboarding event set for East York

In celebration of the first anniversary of the East York Skate Park, skateboarders will get the chance to showcase their talent to the community on Saturday, June 14. According to Nick Pierre, the team manager of the East York Skate boarding team, the skate park located within Stan Wadlow Park (Woodbine and Cosburn avenues) was built to provide the growing number of skaters with a safe place to skate.  “It is a place where they are free with no fear of being kicked out or harassed.” Pierre said.

The Commons Park in Halifax is the location for this weekend of non-stop thrills, and the field is wide open for guys and girls to be nationally ranked among the best in Canadian extreme sports. June 6th through the 8th is the golden opportunity you’ve been waiting for as the Canadian Freestyle Challenge hosts three qualifying rounds Canada-wide, with the national championship as the ultimate prize. That’s right, the Halifax event gives open class competitors a chance to compete for national champ in freestyle motocross, BMX, and skateboarding qualifying events.

Maloof Money Cup Drops into CBS Sports

The Maloof Money Cup is the premier showcase for professional skateboarding in 2008. This three-day festival, and WCS sanctioned U.S. Skateboarding Championship, will take place July 11-13, 2008 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California, during the opening weekend of the OC Fair. Including three professional U.S. Championship Competitions Men’s and Women’s Pro Street, and Men’s Pro Vert - and the U.S. Amateur Championships, the Maloof Money Cup boasts the largest purse in the history of professional skateboarding with over $450,000 in prize money, while setting the benchmark at each prize level.

Girls Only Freestyle Snowboard Camp Adds Skate Afternoons!

Our Camp is very happy indeed to announce the return of ‘Skate Afternoons’ at the Summer Snowboard Camp in Les2Alpes.
Tamsin has agreed to come back for a second year of skate coaching and she’ll bring some equipment for you girls to use too. She has also agreed to be the ‘Our Camp Blog Co-Ordinator’ as she did such a good job of it last summer. This blog will be posted on the Our Camp news page and on Nollie.tv, Coolermag.com, Whitelines.com, Sukmag.com and snow.fall-line-media.com (Document Snowboard Mag).

‘S3 Supergirl Jam’ Rides to New Heights

Southern California is set to host the premiere all-female action sports competition when the 2nd Annual S3 Supergirl Jam hits Huntington Beach on July 25 – 27 in conjunction with the 2008 Honda U.S. Open of Surfing. More than 100 of the world’s top female professionals in surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding will compete in the S3 Supergirl Jam, an event that combines all three sports into one venue over three days.

All-female action sports competition attracts ’supergirls’

The former competitive surfer ruled the women’s vert, park and street disciplines and looked to be on track to become the female equivalent of Tony Hawk.

ESPN Announces X Games 14 Competition Schedule

ESPN X Games is returning for a fifth year in Los Angeles and welcomes a new event -BMX Freestyle Street -as well as the return of Men’s and Women’s Surfing. X Games 14 will take place July 31 -August 3 at The Home Depot Center and STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and surfing will be in Puerto Escondido, Mexico for a fourth year from July 7 -11. Fourteen hours of live X Games programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC -all showcased in high definition -will be aired July 31 -August 3, as well as on ESPN International, EXPN.com, ESPN Classic, ESPN360.com, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center.
