Tige Pro-Am - Day 3 of 3

Fans at Blue Lake Park witnessed history in the making today, as Nicola Butler, 16, (Cape Town, South Africa) won her fifth consecutive contest, after taking the top spot in Pro Women’s division finals at the Tigé Pro-Am Wakeboard Championship, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. Butler’s fifth straight win marks the most consecutive victories any pro wakeboarder has won in a single season.

Merritt in the Top Running for Queen of Wake Rookie of the Year Award

Fifteen-year-old pro wakeboarder Raimi Merritt is looking to land a spot on the podium for this weekend’s Tige Pro-Am Wakeboard Championships in Portland, Oregon. The young rookie, who just turned pro last September, has been heating up the competition among older, more experienced female riders and is in the running for MonaVie’s Queen of Wake Rookie of the Year Award.

Tige Pro-Am - Day 1 of 3

The world’s top professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters mixed it up out on the waters of Blue Lake Park in Portland today with some of the best amateur riders from around the globe for the first of three days at the 2008 Tigé Pro-Am Wakeboard Championships, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.

Wakeboarders catch air at Lake Powell contest

The sounds of music and smells of barbecue floating from 20 houseboats, gathered in Warm Creek Bay on Lake Powell. Pro wakeboarders catching major air above the glistening water. Public Enemy performing old hits from atop a houseboat. No, this isn’t Summer Break 2008. It’s BroStock 2008, an event dedicated to the sport of wakeboarding.

WAKEBOARDING: Fairford’s Ellie Taylor wins British title

Champions have to seize the moment and Ellie Taylor did just that to win the UK National Cable Wakeboarding title in Sheffield over the weekend. Knowing that she needed to produce something out of the ordinary to beat the favourite Sophie Cordery in the U15 Girls’ Championship, the Farmor’s schoolgirl introduced a risky and complicated stunt into her programme - and nailed it.

Twin Cities Pro Tour Stop - Day 2 of 2

Nicola Butler also set a record today after claiming the top spot in the Pro Women’s Division. The win today is not only Butler’s third consecutive tour victory as well, but also marks the first time ever a female rider has captured three straight wins on the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour. Butler now paces the Pro Women division with 300-points in the Indmar Performance Standings.

Collins Takes First Stop Of WWA Wake Park World Series

The first stop of the WWA Wake Park World Series kicked off at the Protest Pro-Am in Toulouse, France. Sam Collins of Australia took the 1st place title in the Pro Men Division, while Denise De Haan from Holland won the Pro Women Division and local shredder Leo Labadens brought home the Pro Wakeskate title. Denise de Haan took home the Pro Women division in the final with her vulcan, Raley, and boardslide to fakie on the A-frame.

Stop #2 of the Wake 2 Wake Tour

Stop #2 of the Wake 2 Wake Tour, a wakeboarding contest series presented by No Fear and sanctioned by the World Wakeboarding Association (WWA), will go off Saturday, June 21st at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels. “Our Tour is all about creating an environment for wakeboarders to compete in fun, high-energy events,” said onsite Tour Director, Mark Pulver.

Injuries don’t stop repeat winners

Ft. Worth Pro Tour Stop - Day 3 of 3

The world’s top female rippers took to the water today for the first-ever Pro Women’s division finals in Fort Worth. Hayley Smith (AUS), Shelby Kantar (USA), Nicola Butler (UK), Emily Copeland Durham (USA), Amber Wing (AUS) and Dallas Friday (USA) fielded the final heat of the contest. Looking for the win, all six female finalists held nothing back in their runs, but in the end, 2008 Wake Games champion Nicola Butler claimed the top spot. Friday and Copeland Durham rounded out the top-three respectively.
