Racers and fans alike win big at Hangtown Classic
An estimated 25,000 moto- cross fanatics filled bleachers, box seats and standing room at Sunday’s professional championship round of the 40th annual Hangtown Motocross Classic, presented by Jackson Rancheria, at Prarie City Raceway south of Folsom. The four-day event featured amateur races on Thursday and Friday, with the pro circuit trials on Saturday and finals Sunday. Hundreds of vendors, factory demos, live music and plenty of beer made for an all-weekend party for race fans and racers alike.Honda’s Ashley Fiolek of St. Augustine, Fla. beat out fellow Floridian Jessica Patterson of Tallahassee and Sarah Whitmore from Cheboygan, Mich. to win first overall in the Womens Motocross Association races Sunday.
