The second annual CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational, hosted by Aspen/Snowmass, will once again be held in Snowmass, April 3 – 5, 2009.
Confirmed riders for this season’s event include: Gretchen Bleiler, Hannah Teter, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, Torah Bright, Clair Bidez, Paulina Ligocka, Sarah Conrad, Meg Pugh, Ellery Hollingsworth, Mercedes Nicoll, Dominique Valle and Soko Yamaoka.
The event will feature a Superpipe contest, photo and filming opportunities for the media as well as lifestyle activities for the riders such as a spa day, yoga classes and a girl’s night out on the town.

“Dew Underground: Winter” creates unprecedented media experience highlighting culture surrounding the Winter Dew Tour.
Coverage begins on FUEL TV December 23, 2008 at 9:00pm ET/PT.
FUEL TV, the only television network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports; PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew brand; and Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports, are pleased to extend their media venture “Dew Underground” to cover the Winter Dew Tour. The initiative incorporates on-site experiences at each Winter Dew Tour stop and short-form content distributed through multiple distribution platforms including linear television, websites, and other digital outlets.
The “Dew Underground” winter experience will take place at each Winter Dew Tour stop, featuring a new studio environment where the world’s top snowboarders and skiers will be interviewed in front of a live audience. Additionally, the “Dew Underground” winter venues will showcase local artists and musicians in interactive displays. “Dew Underground: Winter” will highlight the lifestyle of self-expression that surrounds the mountain lifestyle with segments exposing local hot-spots, bands, and artists.

Small surf continued to prevent the Billabong Pro Maui from commencing again today, but a projected spike is swell later today could see the final event of the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour on as early as tomorrow.
“We woke up this morning and there wasn’t really much surf on offer at the venue,” Brooke Farris, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager, said. “We went on hold for a few hours, but nothing manifested so we expect to be back tomorrow morning at 7am for a possible 8am start.”
While the ASP Women’s World Title was collected by newly-crowned two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 20, last week on the North Shore, the Billabong Pro Maui will still decide the winner of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series) as well as prove paramount to surfers looking requalify for the 2008 ASP Dream Tour.
Event organizers will convene tomorrow at 7am tomorrow morning for a possible 8am start.
The waiting period for the Billabong Pro Maui will run through December 20, 2008.

Mary Margaret Sloan has been appointed as the new President of the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) and Lori Harrod the new President Elect. Mary Margaret is currently the Alumni Director for the Student Conservation Association, a national conservation organization which provides hands-on service for youth on public lands. Lori is the owner and founder of plum (www.thinkplum.net), a recruiting company specializing in the outdoor and sports lifestyle brands.

The Billabong Pro Maui, the final stop of the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, begins its waiting period tomorrow and the event will serve as last opportunity for surfers trying to requalify for the 2009 ASP Dream Tour as well as the deciding bout in the hunt for the 2008 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing title (an ASP Specialty Series).
Layne Beachley (AUS), 36, former seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion, holds a narrow lead in the Triple Crown ratings, but is being closely stalked by newly-crowned two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 20, and Silvana Lima (BRA), 24.

Chica Rider Network
Last tuesday we launched our new project, the Chica Rider Network. It is a net of skater girls promoted and supported by Chica Rider. The girls that belong to the Chica Rider Network are the mexican skaters Estefanía Gómez, Vanessa Rojas, Renata Ruiz and Mayra Gallegos, and the brazilian skaters Karen Jones, Leticia Bufoni, Ruany Caroline and Karina Paiva. The goal of the Chica Rider Network is to support the riders, empowering the girls and strenghtening the sisterhood and the mutual respect between the skater girls. It is aspirational; we want to encourage all the girls to be part of the Network… everyone can! Learn more at

Stephanie ‘Happy’ Gilmore has more to be happy about. Only 12 months after re-writing history as the only rookie - male or female - to claim an ASP World Title, the 20-year-old Australian has backed things up with yet another ASP Women’s World Title by emphatically winning the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach, O’ahu, the second jewel of the Vans Triple Crown.
The prodigious regularfoot, hailing from Australia’s Gold Coast, has continued to pad her legacy as one of the most naturally gifted female talents of her sport. With one event remaining for the 2008 season, Steph has already netted 4 major event wins.

The upcoming Billabong Pro Maui at the world-famous Honolua Bay from December 8 – 20 will culminate the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, proving pivotal for girls looking to requalify for next year’s Dream Tour as well as those in the hunt for the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series) title.
Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 20, defending Billabong Pro Maui Champion, collected her historic second consecutive ASP Women’s World Title last Monday at Sunset Beach and now has her eyes on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Title, sitting a scant 50 points out of the lead.

Monster Kawasaki Team Green’s Sara Price had a successful week of racing over the Thanksgiving holiday at the Winter Mini Olympics in Gainesville, Florida. She brought home a second in Motocross and a third in Supercross.
16-year-old Price, who is racing women’s amateur until her WMA pro debut next May, won her motocross Heat race and in the Main had the chance to race seasoned WMA Pro racers Jessica Patterson and Tarah Gieger. Price had a good start and was second into the first turn behind Patterson. She kept Patterson in her sights the entire moto finishing a solid 2nd overall. Click here to read the rest of the article →
