The 2008 season kicked off back in January for me — I have had a hugely busy summer here in New Zealand. Contests, coaching, freeriding, shooting…and loads of fun road trips with the boat on the back of the truck!

I recently got back from the NZ nationals, where I won my eighth NZ National title. From there I went on a roady with friends Jeff Weatherall (NZ) and Scotty Broome (AUS). We had all the toys possible: surfboards, dirt bikes, my Malibu boat, and a whole lot of good beats and amazing food. We travelled from Auckland, my hometown, to the most northern point of NZ, Cape Rienga, wakeboarding, riding on the dirt bikes in the sand dunes, and surfing along the way. I kept the boys well fed with many amazing “on the go” gourmet sandwiches…the Earl of Sandwich would be impressed. Anyway, with a few burns along the way we arrived home in one piece, and now I am looking forward to getting to America and creating some more good road trip memories.
